More from Donna
Oh, the wonderful power of prayer! Recent years have taught us how much we need God to intervene to protect and save, guide and help us raise our children and grandchildren to be loving, courageous children of God. In this vein, God inspired me to write these precious books of prayer to pray over the special child/children in your life. With the opportunity to personalize the book by inscribing the baby’s name, birthdate, height, and weight, along with a photo; this book will become a keepsake for every parent who receives it. Give the gift of prayer to the new parents in your life and watch their child grow in grace and favor with God as they are prayed over each day.
Author Interview
- What is your favorite genre of books? Why?
I love reading all genres and am currently reading several nonfiction books, along with a light fiction read at night before bed. There is so much to be appreciated by all genres. Right now I am enjoying books about love, surrender, and inspiration like Dream Big by Bob Goff. I also read Jennie Allen’s book Anything in one sitting last weekend. If that’s not an endorsement for her excellent message, I don’t know what is.
- Are you a one project at a time author or do you have multiple projects going at once?
If you could see my desk, you would be shocked. I have several projects going at one time with piles on both sides of my computer and a few others stacked around my office. I am a creative thinker who knows what is in each pile, though it would confuse others I’m sure. I have several picture books in process as well as a novel and a nonfiction book. My brain rarely stops. As my website states, I just love to write!
- How has your life experience helped in your writing journey?
My life experience has a lot to do with my writing journey. My first picture book was given to me in rough draft through Holy Spirit while I sat at a pool in Phoenix, Arizona. I know it sounds crazy, but that’s how God called me to write. It wasn’t an audible voice, but a small voice in my subconscious that I could discern speaking to me. I scribbled the entire draft in ten minutes or so, and the rest is history. I believe we all experience different things in life that are meant for us to use to help and encourage others on their journeys. All of the tragedies, traumas, and trials become markers that God uses to lead us closer to Him and help others find Him too.
- How do you relax after a long day of writing?
I love nature and walking, so after a long day of writing and editing I like to take a walk to talk with God or listen to a podcast or the Spotify playlist I compiled – “Last Best Year – Songs of Gratitude.” It really gets my blood pumping, motivates my faith, and increases my joy as I listen.
- Where do you find your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration usually comes after spending significant time with the Lord. As I sit quietly with Him and ponder what I read in the Bible or a devotional, He sometimes speaks to me and inspires a topic or book outline. If I take too long to get back to it to flush it out and begin to write, the ideas can fade away. When God gives me a message, my goal is to be faithful to write it down as soon as possible so the gifts He gives have an opportunity to come to fruition and be shared with the world.
