Author Interview

  • What is your favorite genre of books? Why? I love Biblically based books on spiritual growth and leadership development books – mostly from John Maxwell. I’m a motivational/inspirational speaker who loves all things leadership so both of these topics fascinate me.
  • Are you a one project at a time author or do you have multiple projects going at once? I actually have multiple projects going at once. When I write, it’s like the content just pours out of me. I have two children’s books ready to publish, a daily devotional that is almost complete, while beginning an outline for a book on leadership.
  • How has your life experience helped in your writing journey? All of my books are based on my personal experiences and the Biblical and life lessons learned from them. As a result, I have an endless supply of material lol!
  • What is the funniest thing to happen in the process of writing one of your books? Not telling my wife about adding a scene about a lesson that I learned while she was snoring in my first book until she read it after it was published – and living to tell the tale lol!
  • How do you relax after a long day of writing? A nap or video games.
  • Where do you find your greatest inspiration? Honestly in daily Bible reading. It’s amazing how alive the Bible becomes once you apply the lessons to your own life. You literally began to see everything as a lesson or love letter from God to you!
  • Who is your favorite author? Why? I’ve been absolutely fascinated with Bible stories and the lessons from them from a kid but probably John Maxwell and Jeff Henderson. The practically of their works in almost every aspect of life helps me expand my thought process.
  • Do you have extensive outlines when writing or do you write a book as you go? I’ve done both. Most of the time, the material simply flows but I also love a good outline and building upon it.
  • Do you remember the first book you read? What sort of impact did it make on you? Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. When I cried at the end, it made me understand the power of the written word to invoke emotion.
  • What do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused? Just time, a laptop, and quiet.
