Elementals don’t mix. They fight over territories constantly and news of their battles is everywhere.
Vela, an Earth Elemental, wants two things: to make it through high school and one day run her very own flower shop. When Linc, a Fire Elemental, strolls into her life, she is immediately thrown into chaos when a bond flares up, connecting them forever. Linc pursues her relentlessly, for connections like this are rare, but Vela wants nothing to do with it or him.
With this news, Vela discovers she and Linc may be a part of an age-old prophecy that could change their world forever by uniting the warring clans. However, a powerful group does not want their pairing to exist, for if it does, the prophecy may come true.
Vela and Linc must keep their bond a secret, for their lives are at risk if it is made public.
Can Vela deny a bond that could unite the battling clans, finally providing peace after centuries of conflict? Will she allow herself to love an enemy?

About the Author
Sofia grew up moving constantly. Never in one place more than three years, there was plenty of time to daydream during long car rides. College finally gave her a chance to study what she had always dreamed of doing, writing her stories.
She obtained a B.A. in Journalism, married her handsome husband and had two amazing sons. She’s also the proud mother of a 100-pound red rust Doberman who loves to chase around his sister, a fluffy-not-fat-cat.
A big believer in dreaming big, Sofia loves speaking to youth, encouraging them to find hope no matter what their life looks like. Sofia is a daughter of the Lord first and foremost and finds inspiration with stories like King David and Esther.
More from Sofia
I became a Young Adult Christian Fantasy Author so that I could add clean content to the world of Young Adult books. I love writing a great love story, and here’s one that will meet all your expectations of a great enemies-to-lovers romance without the spice. I love writing a story that mixes faith with fantasy, much like Morgan Busse, Nadine Brandes and Sara Ella. And if you’re wondering if the butterfly on the cover has any significance at all? Why, yes, yes it does. Read Terra to find out why.
Author Interview
- What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book?
My characters always, always surprise me. I can plan every single thing they do, but how they do it and what they look like as they go down paths I’ve set, truly makes me love what I do. It’s like getting to know a total stranger so personally you know them as well as you know yourself. They’ll constantly do things that after I’ve written it, I’m like, really? Did you just say that? And then I tell them, that’s brilliant. I’m a pantser all the way in that aspect. I don’t ever want to outline a character’s personality. That has to come organically.
- How do you overcome writer’s block? Do you have any advice for others in finding their process to overcome it?
Dive into research when that happens. I can’t tell you how many times inspiration has struck when I’m up to my neck in a subject I’m writing about.
Also, talk about your book…a lot. I will record videos with a friend on a cool app and brainstorm through many a scene that has me stuck. It helps immeasurably. You don’t even need an app like that, call a friend and tell them where you’re stuck, describe the scene and see if you and your friend can talk your way out of it.
- Do you read the genre you write? Why or why not?
Absolutely. I’m a huge fan of fantasy so I read all kinds of that genre. But I also read whatever YA Christian Fantasy or Christian Fantasy I can get my hands on.
Fantasy is just perfect for when I want to escape to literally another world. Fill me up with details, cool characters and complicated tensions, please! Make me believe this world actually exists!
- What’s your favorite writing snack, drink, and/or music?
I’m a snacker when I write. I’ve been on a strict diet lately so it’s been carrot sticks, light popcorn, and nuts. I’m a huge fan of coffee, I drink three cups a day, so if I’m not drinking coffee as I write, I have a hot cup of tea with honey. Anything hot, really.
Music is food for my soul as I write. I have a playlist that has everything from Taylor Swift and Celine Dion to Guardians of the Galaxy soundrack and OneRepublic. Oh, and of course, there’s Frankie crooning at me during really soulful scenes. (Frank Sinatra)
- What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing?
I just listened to an interview with Cassandra Clare, who wrote The Mortal Instruments. I’m not a huge fan of her writing, but she’s written a boatload of books, so I tuned in. She said something that stuck: Make sure your story is character driven not plot driven. I just plotted out my four book series several months ago so this resonated with me. I can stick to my plotline, but it’s the characters that are experiencing it, so make sure it’s about them and not the plot. As I read books, I love when I’m completely in my character’s head, so I try to write this way, too.
- Is your writing space pristine or organized chaos?
Oh, this constantly changes from day to day and moment to moment. If I’ve just gotten back from a writing conference, my office is a disaster for a solid week.
And then there’s my husband who will pitch a fit until I straighten my desk area. When I finally succumb and have everything in their proper place, I love it. But I also love when it’s a mess, too. I really just clean it for his sanity.

I love the questions about the authors creative process. Interesting and inspiring
Intriguing! Always love the author’s points of view. And now I must find out what happens between Vela and Linc.
What advice would you give to help others create plot lines?
