From Chaos to Calm: A Shepherd’s Journey Through Modern Storms
It was a Tuesday morning when my world seemed to collapse. The incessant buzz of notifications, the weight of impending deadlines, and the echoes of global crises all merged into a deafening symphony of anxiety. As a pastor and global missionary, I was expected to be a pillar of peace for others. Yet, I found myself engulfed in a sea of overwhelm, struggling to breathe.
Sound familiar?
This scene plays out in countless lives daily in our hyper-connected, always-on world. We’re all searching for an anchor in the storm, a moment of respite from the relentless pace of modern life. It was in my moment of desperation that I rediscovered an ancient wellspring of peace: Psalm 23.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures…”
These words, penned by David, shepherd-turned-king, thousands of years ago began to work their way into the cracks of my fractured spirit. As I meditated on this psalm day after day, I realized it wasn’t just a poetic artifact—it was a roadmap for navigating the complexities of our 21st-century existence.
This personal transformation became the seed for “The Way of The Shepherd.” In writing this book, I set out on a quest to unpack how this timeless wisdom speaks directly to our most pressing contemporary challenges:
- Finding Peace in a World of Conflict:
Conflict seems unavoidable, from my experience of stress anxiety to the global tensions that flood our newsfeeds. But through the lens of the Good Shepherd, I discovered a peace that transcends circumstances—a calm place in the eye of the storm.
- Discovering Purpose in an Age of Distraction:
How do we discern our true calling with a thousand voices vying for our attention? The shepherd’s guidance offers a clarity I never thought possible, helping me navigate the noise and stay true to my life’s purpose.
- Achieving Wholeness in a Culture of Fragmentation:
Juggling roles as a pastor, writer, global missionary, and family member often left me feeling scattered. The shepherd’s path led me to a deep sense of wholeness, where every aspect of life finds its proper place.
- Embracing Rest in a 24/7 World:
Proper rest can seem like an unattainable luxury in a society that never sleeps. Yet, as I learned to “lie down in green pastures,” I found a rejuvenation beyond mere physical relaxation.
- Seeking Guidance in Uncertain Times:
When the future seems more unpredictable than ever, where do we turn? The shepherd’s staff became my compass, offering direction when the path ahead was unclear.
The Way of The Shepherd offers practical solutions to finding peace through personal stories, actionable advice, and deep scriptural contemplation.
As we journey through The Way of The Shepherd together, you’ll discover:
- How to cultivate a strong inner peace, regardless of external chaos
- Practical steps to align your life with God’s purpose, even when the world pulls you in a thousand directions
- Ways to foster genuine reconciliation in your relationships, healing the divisions that plague our society
- Techniques to find proper rest and recharge, even in your busiest seasons
Whether you’re feeling lost in life’s shadows or simply seeking richer pastures, this journey offers more than temporary relief—it provides a proven path to lasting peace and purpose.
Are you ready to exchange anxiety for assurance, chaos for calm, and confusion for clarity?
Let’s rediscover The Shepherd’s path to peace together. After all, who wouldn’t benefit from some peace in a world that often feels like a raging storm?
Welcome to the journey. The still waters await.

Author Interview
- What is your favorite genre of books? Why?
Fiction: I enjoy spy thrillers and mysteries. My favorite non-fiction series is C.J. Box’s Joe Pickett Series.
Non-Fiction: Anything by Max Lucado and books that help me solve practical issues faced in today’s world by Christians who want to grow.
- Are you a one project at a time author or do you have multiple projects going at once?
I prefer to work on one project at a time. This approach allows me to concentrate on the research needed to create Christian Living books that empower individuals to grow in their faith. Focusing on a single project also helps me avoid repeating ideas or themes across different works, keeping the book’s message clear and providing practical solutions.
In 2024, I authored “The Way of The Shepherd” and fulfilled a contract to write “Romans & Galatians,” a textbook for Africa’s Hope Discovery Series. This textbook will be used in nearly 400 Bible colleges across sub-Saharan Africa.
- How has your life experience helped in your writing journey?
I am a pastor, theological educator, and global missionary. My work revolves around providing practical advice and sound biblical counsel to help Christians navigate challenging situations. I believe that every experience God brings into my life, whether good or bad, is an opportunity for learning and growth in my relationship with Christ. As I grow in faith, I am better equipped to help others. Many of my book ideas stem from personal experiences I have faced—experiences that I know others are also encountering. If I don’t share my story of God’s help and love, I feel as though I am missing an opportunity to assist others in some meaningful way.
- What is the funniest thing to happen in the process of writing one of your books?
I’m not sure if this is funny, but it was certainly embarrassing. Every writer knows the importance of a good editor; they help make authors look their best. My books are unique in that I require an editor to focus on mechanics, grammar, and so on. Additionally, I need an editor with a solid theological background to ensure I don’t stray into incorrect interpretations.
I published a book on the life of Paul and went through all the necessary editing steps. However, a month after the release, a friend informed me that I had made a serious error by attributing something related to Paul that actually belonged to Peter. At that point, the book had already sold a significant number of copies. Fortunately, most of those were eBooks, so I was able to correct the mistake without too much trouble.
- How do you relax after a long day of writing?
Mostly, I hang out with my wife of 32 years and watch British television or some kind of mystery series on Netflix. We live in Uganda, and I am fortunate to live on a mountain that faces east. So, every morning, I sit on my porch, watch the sun come up, and pray my way into the day.
- Where do you find your greatest inspiration?
From the difficulties and victories of life and from the sermons/teachings I prepare to equip God’s people for works of service.
- Who is your favorite author? Why?
I am not sure I could name one single author that I call favorite. I read wide. But if forced, I would say C.S. Lewis and Andrew Murray.
- Do you have extensive outlines when writing or do you write a book as you go?
I am not sure I would use the term “extensive.” I usually create an outline of chapters and how each chapter explains the challenge and presents the solution. After that, I work on a broad outline of each chapter but leave room to deviate as I write. Knowing where I am going helps but sometimes the journey to that destination takes some unusual and unexpected turns – that’s what I love about writing.
- Do you remember the first book you read? What sort of impact did it make on you?
Not really the first book, but I vividly remember the experience of learning to read. My mother was unable to read but was determined that her youngest (me) would read from an early age. She bought the “Hooked on Phonics” set (which included vinyl records in those days) and made me listen. At the age of two, I began reading simple books (Fun with Dick and Jane). By the time I entered Kindergarten, I was reading at a 5th-grade level. The best part is that while I was listening and learning, so was my mother. She taught herself how to read! Now, she is able to pick up the books I write and work her way through them.
- What do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?
A continual flow of coffee and the door of my office shut. Other than that I really don’t need much.
