About the Author

Scott Meinke is a business leader, writer, and ministry founder with decades of experience navigating faith in the workplace.  After a long career in the insurance industry, Scott began writing stories that explore integrity, ambition, and what it means to follow Christ when success and conviction collide. The White Stone is his first novel – born out of real-world experience and shaped by Scripture – examining the quiet decisions that define character long before they define careers.

Author Interview

• How has your life experience helped in your writing journey?

My dyslexia has shaped my writing more than anything else. It forced me to slow down, choose words carefully, and focus on meaning over perfection. I’ve always had to work harder to communicate clearly, but that process helped me become a more intentional storyteller.

In many ways, what once felt like a limitation has become a strength—it’s taught me to write from the heart, not just the page.

• How do you relax after a long day of writing?

I’m a hot tub and sports kind of guy. After a long day of writing, there’s nothing better than sitting in the hot tub, watching a game, and unwinding with my wife.

Simple, relaxing, and time together—that’s hard to beat.

• Where do you find your greatest inspiration?

My writing really began with a simple request from a high school friend, who asked our group to share about someone we respected. I wrote about my college soccer coach and found that I truly enjoyed the process—especially reflecting on the impact he had on my life. The response was encouraging, which led me to start writing more about experiences from both business and life and sharing them on social media.

The White Stone was born out of a sermon series on the seven churches in Revelation. The message to Pergamum—a church living in a world of compromise—hit close to home and caused me to reflect on my own walk in the insurance industry. That reflection ultimately led to my first book.

I originally thought I’d print a few copies for friends and family, but it grew into something much more. Listing it on Amazon was never the initial goal, yet the response so far has been greater than I could have imagined.

• Who is your favorite author? Why?

One author I’ve really connected with is John Grisham. I’ve always appreciated the way he tells a story—how he takes a complex profession and makes it compelling, relatable, and hard to put down.

At one point, I had a simple thought: if an insurance guy like me can get hooked on stories about lawyers, why couldn’t lawyers—or anyone else—get drawn into a great story about the insurance world?

That idea stuck with me and became part of the inspiration behind my own writing.

• Do you have extensive outlines when writing or do you write a book as you go?

I need to know where I’m going and the impact I want the story to have. I start by building that foundation—both in terms of the message and the overall direction—before I begin writing.

From there, I fill in the story as it develops, making sure it stays true to the Scripture it’s built on while also keeping it relevant and engaging for the reader.

 

 

My hope for the book:  My hope is that this book is thought-provoking—that it encourages people to honestly evaluate where they stand in areas where compromise can quietly take root.

Whether that’s in the business world, at home, or even within the church, those pressures are real—and they’re more common than we like to admit.

I wanted to tell a story that feels close to home. One that helps people see that faith isn’t meant to be compartmentalized.

That it’s actually possible to live Monday through Friday the same way we live on Sunday morning.

And ultimately, that a life of integrity—while not always easy—is always worth it.
